Topicality. Natural sorbents, pectins are accessible and widespread substances that can not only excrete toxic substances but also regulate mineral metabolism and acid-base balance in the body. The search for new and promising natural sorbents to purify the body of heavy metals and radionuclides is currently actual problem.
Aim. To study the 90Sr and 137Cs long-lived radionuclides sorption using apple and sunflower pectins.
Materials and methods. We used pectins: apple (SE = 78.28 highly esterified) and sunflower (SE = 26.58 low esterified).
Results and discussion. Quantitative characteristics of the interaction of sorbents with 90Sr and 137Cs radionuclides have been determined, and kinetic exchange curves constructed.
Conclusions. According to the results of the researches, the presence of moderate absorption capacity of apple and sunflower pectins has been established, having a linear dependence on the pH medium.References
