Topicality. Obstructive bronchitis in children refers to diseases that are of important medical and social importance because of the prevalence, the severe course of the disease, the relapse tendency and the high frequency of patients hospitalization.
Aim. To make an assessment of expenditures structure for medicines, which have been prescribed to children with acute obstructive bronchitis at one of the Kharkiv health care institution, and the frequency of their prescriptions.
Materials and methods. Clinical and economic research methods - ABC- and frequency analyses - have been used in the work.
Results and discussion. According to the results of frequency analysis decongestants and other nasals for topical use, preparations for throat, glucocorticoids, antibacterials for systemic use, digestives, including enzymes, antihistamines for systemic use, vitamins, other systemic drugs for obstructive airway diseases, mucolytics most often prescribed to patients have been studied. Carrying out the ABC-analysis it was found that the costs for glucocorticoids, antibacterials for systemic use and decongestants and other nasals for topical use have been accounted for most of the costs of pharmacotherapy of children with acute obstructive bronchitis.
Conclusions. The dominant pharmacotherapy of pediatric patients with acute obstructive bronchitis in this Kharkiv health care institution is the pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy of underlying and concomitant diseases. The main cost related to the pharmacotherapy of the patients studied was spent on drugs, which most often prescribed for acute obstructive bronchitis and concomitant pathology treatment.References
