CrossRef is an association of scholarly publishers that develops shared infrastructure to support more effective scholarly communications. CrossRef's general purpose is to promote the development and cooperative use of new and innovative technologies to speed and facilitate scholarly research. CrossRef's specific mandate is to be the citation linking backbone for all scholarly information in electronic form. CrossRef is a collaborative reference linking service that functions as a sort of digital switchboard. It holds no full text content, but rather effects linkages through CrossRef Digital Object Identifiers (CrossRef DOI), which are tagged to article metadata supplied by the participating publishers. The end result is an efficient, scalable linking system through which a researcher can click on a reference citation in a journal and access the cited article.
CrossRef citation-linking network today covers over 67 million journal articles and other content items (books chapters, data, theses, technical reports) from thousands of scholarly and professional publishers around the globe.

Chemical Abstracts Plus (CAplus) is an integrated source of records from international journals, patents, patent families, technical reports, books, conference proceedings, and dissertations from all areas of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, and related sciences from 1907 to the present. CAplus contains more than 41 million chemistry and chemistry related research records in all areas of biochemistry, macromolecular chemistry, applied chemistry, physical, inorganic and analytical chemistry.
From 1907 to present, CAS has indexed chemistry from more than 50,000 journal titles, including cover-to-cover coverage for more than 1,500 key chemical journals.

Index Copernicus Journals Master List is a scientific journal database that contain currently over 13,000 journals from all over the world. This database covers all fields of science. Registered journals undergo rigorous, multidimensional evaluation, proving high quality. Appreciation to the IC Journals Master List expressed the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland by placing the database of scientific journals IC Journals Master List to the list of databases for indexing in which, periodicals receive additional points in the evaluation conducted by the Ministry.

Catalogs and Search Engines

Bielefeld Academic Search Engine (BASE) is one of the world's most voluminous multi-disciplinary search engines especially for academic open access web resources. This engine collects, normalises, and indexes data using the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH). BASE provides more than 70 million documents from more than 3,000 sources. Where available, bibliographic data is provided, and the results may be sorted by multiple fields, such as by author, Dewey Decimal Classification or year of publication.

Directory of Open Access scholarly Resources (ROAD) is a service offered by the ISSN International Centre with the support of the Communication and Information Sector of UNESCO. ROAD provides a free access to a subset of the ISSN Register (1,8 millions of bibliographic records. This subset comprises bibliographic records which describe scholarly resources in Open Access which have been assigned an ISSN by the ISSN Network : journals, conference proceedings and academic repositories. The bibliographic records are enriched, when appropriate, by metadata about the coverage of the resources by indexing, abstracting, citation databases, registries and journal indicators.

Google Scholar is a freely accessible web search engine that indexes the full text or metadata of scholarly literature across an array of publishing formats and disciplines. Google Scholar index includes most peer-reviewed online journals of Europe and America's largest scholarly publishers. This product provides the citation indexing features. While Google does not publish the size of Google Scholar's index, third-party researchers estimated it to contain roughly 160 million documents.

PKP Index is the project of Public Knowledge Project (PKP). The PKP Index is a database of articles, books, and conference proceedings using PKP's free, open source Open Journal Systems, Open Monograph Press, and Open Conference Systems software applications. The PKP Index includes more than 322000 records indexed from 1000 publications. The Index covers all subject areas and includes content from publishers from around the world. To be accepted into the Index, your journal, press, or conference site must include at least one article, chapter, or proceeding. The index is a curated list of publications and all submissions are reviewed and approved by PKP staff. The PKP Index is powered by PKP's own Open Harvester Systems. WorldCat is a global union catalog and the world's largest bibliographic database that itemizes the collections of 72,000 libraries in 170 countries that participate in the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) global cooperative. It contains more than 330 million records, representing over 2 billion physical and digital assets (articles, archival materials, books, journals, maps, music, videos, and other resources) in 485 languages.

Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine (SPU VNLU) Producer: Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine - project Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (VNLU). Ukrainian scientific periodicals contain articles from international journals in all fields of knowledge and carries out the completion of full-text electronic information resources, electronic counterparts publications or electronic publications provided by the owners. As part of an information resource "Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine" is adjusted full-text search of scientific publications in PDF format. VNLU spent working on the integration of information resource "Scientific Periodicals of Ukraine" to the interface of analytical services, Google Scholar (Google Academy). It contains approximately 2520 - journals; 25372 - issues; 628524 - full texts of articles.
