Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Це подання раніше не було опубліковане і не надсилалося до розгляду редакціям інших журналів (або у коментарях для редактора нижче дані необхідні пояснення).
  • Файл подання є документом у форматі Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, RTF або WordPerfect.
  • Інтернет-посилання у тексті супроводжуються повними коректними адресами URL.
  • Текст набраний 12-м розміром кеглю з одинарним міжрядковим інтервалом; авторські акценти виділені курсивом, а не підкресленням (всюди, крім адрес URL); всі ілюстрації, графіки та таблиці розміщені безпосередньо у тексті, там, де вони повинні бути за змістом (а не у кінці документу).
  • Текст відповідає вимогам до стилістики та бібліографії, викладеним у Керівництві для авторів розділу "Про журнал".
  • Якщо матеріал подається у рецензований розділ журналу, при оформленні файлу подання були виконані інструкції щодо Гарантій сліпого рецензування.

Author Guidelines

THE UKRAINIAN BIOPHARMACEUTICAL JOURNAL:

ARTICLE SUBMISSION RULES

 

1. Prior to submitting an article, the author(s) shall have been registered on the journal’s website at: http://ubphj.nuph.edu.ua.

2. The article’s electronic version shall be submitted through the journal’s website.

3. Those articles may be accepted for publication that have not been published before or have not been reviewed for publication by other publishers. The languages accepted are Ukrainian, English, and Russian. English-language articles are given priority for publication. No Cyrillic symbols shall be used in metadata in the English text.

4. Authors shall bear all the responsibility for plausibility and authenticity of the materials submitted.

5. Acceptable for review are original and other articles up to 10-15 pages of length dedicated to biopharmaceutical research of medications, experimental pharmacology, biochemistry, pharmacognosy, and pharmaceutical chemistry. The articles containing data on the use of the biological, biochemical, pharmacological, and biopharmaceutical research results, are given priority for publication.

6. Font size 14, 1.5 line spacing on an A4 size page shall be used (page margins: 3 cm left, 1 cm right, 2 cm head and bottom).

The article shall contain the structural elements of a scholarship piece as defined by the Resolution of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine no. № 7-05/01 of January 15, 2003.

The Structure for a Submission:

  • Title of the article
  • Names and initials of the authors
  • The name of institution, where the work was carried out, country and city
  • E-mail address for correspondence
  • Abstract and key words

  • Materials and research methods
  • The results of research and their discussion
  • Conclusions

  • Abstract

The abstract (in Ukrainian, English, and Russian) shall be structured and not exceeding 1,500 signs to include the sections as follows:

  • UDC
  • Title
  • Names and initials of the authors
  • The abstract’s text shall reflect:

 relevance

  aim

  methods

  results

  conclusions

  • key words (up to seven).

7. Authors shall follow the general article structure and highlight the required structural elements as follows:

7.1. Setting the problem in general terms, the relevance of the problem, and its connection with substantial scientific or practical issues.  

7.2. An analysis of the latest research and publications, where the problem has been explored and those referred to by the author.

7.3. The elements overlooked in the available research of the general problem which the article seeks to address.

7.4. The aims and objectives of the article formulated.

7.5. Presenting the key material of the research (methodology and the subject) justifying the obtained results.

7.6. Conclusions on the conducted research and the perspectives for further research in the subject area.

8. Compound formulae are given as separate files in the Соrеl Draw format (a version no later than 13); diagrams and figures— in the  Ехсеl or Соrеl Draw format (a version no later than 13); photographic figures can be ТІFF files 300–600 dpі Gray Scale (256 shades of grey), JРG larger or equal to 1 Mb. The width of the graphic material shall be 7.5 cm or 15.0 cm.

9. Articles shall use the SI system.

10. Tables shall have enumeration and titles. Information provided in the tables and on the figures shall not duplicate.

11. The list of references is given in two copies for each copy of the article. The copies are printed separately. The first copy is modeled in accordance with the DSTU GOST 7.1:2006 “The System of Standards on Information, the Library and Publishing Affairs. Bibliographic Record. Bibliographic Description. The General Requirements and the Making-Up Rules.” (online bibliographic references listing at: http://vak.in.ua/do.php). The second copy is modeled after the APA requirements with no Cyrillic symbols used. The Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is the unique code which shall be listed in the reference, if available.

A correct referencing of the used bibliographic sources is the prerequisite for the publication to be featured in the citation indices.  

12. The list of references shall contain publications issued in the last 10 years. Earlier publications are accepted on case by case basis.

13. Original articles shall cite up to 15 works, the reviews—up to fifty.

14. In the submission text, references are given in square brackets as per the bibliography.

15. The sources are enumerated in the bibliography section as per the order of reference throughout the article’s text.

16. The article’s submission (in two copies) is submitted from the organization where the work was conducted. It shall be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief and supplemented by an expert conclusion allowing for open publication. The package shall be sent to: National University of Pharmacy, 53 Pushkinska St., Kharkiv 61002 Ukraine, or to the executive editor.

17. The article submissions submitted for publication shall be signed by the each author. The authors, through the signing of the submission copies personally, give their consent to registering their personal data required for the publication activities by the editorial team (such as name, academic degrees and ranks, position and organization, mailing address, office telephone, e-mail address). This is done to secure the interaction in terms of intellectual property and patent rights as well as the author’s consent for publishing in the journal alongside the article.

18. Alongside the article, a written consent for its placing under the open access in scientific databases as it is been cleared by the expert commission against academic plagiarism (“Author Agreement for the Transfer of Non-Exclusive Property Rights for A Scientific Article”).

19. The article submission shall be supplemented by a reference from the author (in Ukrainian, English, and Russian), which specifies the following: academic degrees and ranks; name in full (including patronymic, where applicable); organization and current position; mailing address; telephone and fax; Е-mаіl address; as well as the digital identifier number ORCID iD (please see https://orcid.org/ for more details).

20. The editorial staff may give some technical proof-reading to the article, where relevant.

21. Should an article styled differently from the requirements listed hereby be submitted, the editorial staff will neither register or review the submission nor return it to the authors, which they will be duly informed of.

22. The articles sent by the authors for proof-reading shall be returned to the editorial team no later than ten days upon the receipt of comments.

23. Non-acceptance for publication shall not be expected to be explained and shall not be assumed as a negative feedback as regards the scientific or practical value of the work.

Review articles

Manuscripts dedicated to the review of developments made by national and international scholars in the areas of Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Phytochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy and containing no experimental data are being accepted for publication under this section.

Pharmacology and biochemistry

Manuscripts containing the results of experimental research in the field of pharmacology, in particular, preclinical studies of models of active pharmacological substances with the study of biochemical parameters are being accepted for publication under this section.

Biopharmaceutical research

The original experimental manuscripts devoted to the results of the study of biological and pharmacological models using modern biopharmaceutical technologies are being accepted for publication under this section.

Pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy

Manuscripts containing the results of experimental studies of pharmacological models and active pharmacological substances of plant origin in the area of chemical study of biologically active substances with the prospect of the creation on their basis of pharmaceuticals of plant origin are being accepted for publication under this section.

Microbiological research

This section is devoted to experimental manuscripts devoted to the preclinical study of microbiological models of active pharmacological substances with the study of biological and biochemical parameters.
